GO GREEN IN CITY OF GLENDALE BY DROPPING OFF HOLIDAY TREES FOR RECYCLING

After the holidays, residents can bring trees to parks and other convenient locations to reduce landfill items, aid with landscaping

When the last holiday gift is unwrapped and guests have gone home after celebrations, residents might be wondering what to do with their live Christmas trees. The city of Glendale offers a convenient solution – drop-off sites where residents can bring their holiday trees to be recycled from Dec. 26 to Jan. 4.

  • Residents can drop off their live Christmas trees at the following locations:

  • Acoma Park, 53rd Avenue and Acoma Road, during regular park hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily)

  • Foothills Park, 57th Avenue and Union Hills Drive, during regular park hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily)

  • O’Neil Park, 64th and Missouri avenues, during regular park hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily)

  • Rose Lane Park, 51st and Marlette avenues, during regular park hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily)

  • Sahuaro Ranch Park, southeast corner of 63rd Avenue and Mountain View Road, during regular park hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily), on the west side of the park in the lot closest to the dog park

  • Fire Station No. 156, 6801 W. Deer Valley Road, outside anytime

  • Heroes Regional Park Library, 6075 N. 83rd Ave., from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily

Residents also can leave their holiday trees out to be picked up during the city’s regular, monthly Bulk Trash collection scheduled for their areas. Anyone who wants to have their tree recycled must remove all stands, ornaments, tinsel and other decorations from it before dropping it off.

The holiday trees are ground and used for landscaping in order to help the environment.

“This is an easy way for residents to help us reduce the volume of items that are sent to landfills,” said Johnny Morales, supervisor for Solid Waste - Recycling in Glendale’s Field Operations Department. “These trees are used for multiple purposes and by recycling them we are all doing our part to help the environment.”
