Councilmember Ian Hugh was elected in 2012, and then re-elected in 2016 and 2020. In January 2015, he was appointed Vice Mayor and served through January 2018. He is currently the Vice Mayor throughout 2024. He previously served the City Council from 1986 -1991 and was Vice Mayor from 1990 to 1991.
Councilmember Hugh’s extensive résumé and leadership includes serving on the Glendale Union High School District School Board for 8 years, where he served as president from 2011 – 2012. Hugh has served on various committees, including the Glendale Utilities Committee from 1989 – 1990 where he served as chairman, he was a member and past Vice Chair of the Glendale Community Development Corporation, and was Chairman of the first Cable Commission. Hugh previously served as the President of the S/W Tire Pros board. He has sponsored and coached several recreational sports teams over the years and is a member of the New Life Community Church in Glendale. Hugh is currently a member of the Glendale Rotary Club.
Councilmember Hugh was born and raised in Glendale. He and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 47 years and have owned their own businesses for 47 years. They have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren and have enjoyed living in the same house in the Cactus District for 46 years.
