Overview:
Citizen provided security camera footage has become an extremely valuable asset to police departments to establish leads and identify individuals involved in criminal activity. The Community Watch Program is a wonderful opportunity for our citizens to help both deter crime and enhance crime prevention strategies within our communities.
The Community Watch Program is a completely voluntary program that is available to both citizens (to register their privately owned cameras with the police department) and to businesses or community entities (to register and/or share real-time video with the police department).
For Residents:
Residential camera registration does not provide Glendale Police Department with direct access to your camera(s). Officers with Glendale PD will only contact you if they believe your camera could contain evidence related to a criminal investigation.
Often, after a crime, officers must go door to door to obtain any surveillance footage, this process is lengthy and footage can expire before officers can obtain the footage. This program allows for officers to quickly communicate with citizens to obtain video footage before the footage expires or is deleted, saving our officers time and allowing them to obtain valuable evidence.

For Organizations:
Business organizations and community entities can elect to register cameras and/or share real-time video with the police department in order to assist during calls for service and ongoing investigations. Sharing real-time video may increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the police response during an emergency by providing situational awareness to the officers during that time.
