On behalf of the men and women of the Glendale Police Department I want to welcome you to our department. The Glendale Police Department is a CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) accredited department and has maintained this standing since being awarded in 2000. This has been achieved through professionalism, innovation, and a determination to do what is right. Chris Briggs

Chris Briggs joined the Glendale Police Department in 1992. Before being appointed Police Chief, Chief Briggs served as the Assistant Chief overseeing the Investigations and Administrative Bureau where he is responsible for criminal investigations, undercover operations, special events planning and operations, traffic, training, personnel management, planning and research, grants and the budget.

Throughout his career, Chris has worked in every division in the department including Patrol, Criminal Investigations as a Detective and Sergeant, Professional Standards and Special Operations as a Sergeant and Lieutenant. While in Special Operations, he planned events and contingency responses for events that included NFL and NHL games, Super Bowls, City events and Luke Air Force Base air shows. As a Commander, Chris led the Administration Division and the Gateway Patrol Division before being promoted to Assistant Chief.

Chris has served as an instructor in Taser use, High Risk Traffic Stops, building entries, Active Shooter and Hostage Rescues. He has been a member of both the National and Arizona Tactical Officers Associations as well as the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police.

Chris earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Ottawa University and completed the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Leadership in Police Organizations course. Chris is married and is the father of a son and daughter.
