US Flag Project at Capitols

For more than 200 years, the Flag of the United States of America has been a symbol of strength and unity, pride and inspiration for millions of American citizens. And the American flag continues to be one of the nation’s most widely recognized icons, with a rich and evolutionary history. Since that first Congressional Act establishing an official flag in 1777, the American flag has been displayed around the world and beyond.

The first time the American flag was flown overseas was in Libya, over Fort Derne, on the shores of Tripoli in 1805. And in 1909, the American flag was placed at the North Pole. In 1963, the American flag was proudly placed on top of Mount Everest. Then in July 1969, the flag of the United States was flown in space, when Neil Armstrong placed it on the moon.

Each of these missions demonstrated a “first” for the Stars and Stripes and to celebrate our nation’s flag, a new “first-of-its-kind” mission is being embarked upon.

This mission is inspired by veterans from all 50 states, who have all served under our flag, having one mission - to defend freedom.

My goal is to do my small part to inspire pride in this great country and honor both the history and future of America.

Time is of the essence as the goal is to fly the flag at all 50 state and U.S. territory capitols and create an exhibit by the 250th birthday of the United States, which is on July 4, 2026. Once the user-friendly exhibit is completed, it will be available for use by any city for a Veterans event.
